Abstract
Rather than aiming to repair clients' weaknesses and solely addressing problems, positive psychology intentionally focuses on amplifying individual and environmental strengths and resources, as well as addressing challenges. In the context of sport, positive psychology helps athletes, coaches, and sport professionals shift their attention away from unhelpful thoughts and emotions while developing more positive qualities and external supports, as well as enhancing well-being. Such an approach may be applied to cultivate awareness, meaningful relationships, and positive climates shown to foster personal strengths and build cohesive teams. Positive psychology has also begun to garner interest from sport organizations interested in both individual and organizational flourishing.
