Abstract
The usefulness of mathematical techniques such as the Williams' mean [see RAE/B 48, p. 76, etc.] and the 5-day moving mean for the interpretation of catches of mosquitoes in light-traps is outlined. The Williams' mean technique reduces the influence of a very few high catches on the general average, and the 5-day moving mean technique reduces the influence of daily climatic fluctuations.
