Abstract

This paper firstly introduces the characteristics of Firewall and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and points out the shortcomings of the Firewall. Then it analyzes the linkage mechanism of Firewall and IDS based on SNMP Protocol, and puts forward a kind of linkage model based on IDS and Firewall. Finally, the effectiveness of the linkage mechanism is verified by the simulation results. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
