Abstract

This paper describes a new methodological approach to design education on the web employed in the system called ALE. The system will be used to build a large knowledge base supporting Architecture and Civil Engineering Design Courses and to experiment a comprehensive Virtual University of Architecture and Engineering Design. The ALE system integrates the functionality of a complex e-Learning system with adaptive educational hypermedia on the Web. In this paper we outline the system architecture and focus on the design and functionality of its adaptive learning environment.
