Abstract
The architecture and processing capability of the AMD opteron processor for multiprocessor servers are discussed. Opteron combines the backward compatibility of the x86-64 architecture with a DDR memory controller and hypertransport links to deliver server-class performance. The AMD x86-64 architecture supports 64-bit virtual and 52-bit physical addresses.
