Abstract

The invention relates to particles comprising a substrate, and an anion-binding layer contg. an anion-forming org. compd. Preferably, the anion-binding layer is a double hydroxide, and the anion-forming org. compd. is selected from phenolates, enolates, carboxylates, sulfates, sulfonates, sulfinates, dithiolates, phosphates, and phosphites, which are also drugs, food supplements, diagnostic agents, and/or cosmetic compds. The particles may also comprise an intermediate layer of a transparent, semitransparent, or opaque metal, oxide, oxide hydrate, fluoride, nitride, and/or oxynitride, and the anion-binding layer may also contain an anion-forming colorant. The particles can be used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations, coating compns., plastics, films, printing inks and marking agents for security documents and identification cards, for coloring seeds, food products, as well as in prodn. of pigments and drying agents. on SciFinder(R)
