Abstract

The goals of anophthalmic socket rehabilitation are to provide sufficient underlying orbital volume and conjunctival surface area that permit a patient to wear a comfortable and realistic eye prosthesis. In this chapter, the authors describe common clinical scenarios and detail surgical interventions for the anophthalmic socket. These include mucous membrane grafting, fornix formation, dermis fat grafting, and volume implants, among others.
