Abstract
Guidelines and constraints on learner modelling due to the purpose of making learner models available to learners for inspection are discussed in the context of a sensorimotor control task. We argue that the requirement of understandability of the models by the learners limits the options of modelling strategy, constrains model structure and calls for further refinement of model contents to increase its modularity. We discuss the issues of modality and interactivity of model presentation, and outline some factors that can decrease the comprehensibility of learner models and the clarity of their presentation.
