BIOINSECTICIDES: I. BACILLUS THURINGIENSIS.

Abstract

A survey is given of the in vitro production and application of insect pathogen Bacillus thuringiensis which is already in large scale use as bioinsecticide. Nowadays, Bacillus thuringiensis is used for the control of many pest insects in agriculture and forestry, as well as against mosquitoes which are vectors of medical importance. It is commercially produced by a fermentor technique. In contrast, all baculoviruses that are used at present for the control of insect pests are produced in vivo.
