Abstract
Recent work concerning cognition has concentrated upon the computational or information-processing approach. Classical conditioning theory is now generally considered inappropriate for explaining such complex internal psychological processes. This paper seeks to resurrect an interest in classical conditioning as a possible rival to the computational theory. © 1987, Elsevier Science & Technology. All rights reserved.
