Abstract

This paper presents the development of a new dynamic model of the rolling process which provides estimates of the variations in exit gage, strip speed and tension at entry and exit, rolling force and rolling torque in response to variations in roll separation as well as the rate of change of the roll spacing. This two-dimensional dynamic model employs the Tresca friction factor approach instead of Amontons-Coulomb friction law. © 1998 by ASME.
