Abstract

The presence of dyes in water cause serious problems in aquatic systems due to itstoxicity. Clays and clays materials are widely used to remove these contaminants fromwater and wastewater. This paper discussed recent progress on application of clays andclays materials and their modified forms for the removal of dyes from water andwastewater or aqueous systems. Different aspects of process adsorbent modification, adsorption mechanisms, adsorption equilibria, kinetics as well as thermodynamic arediscussed in this paper. Also future perspective of industrial application of clays andclays materials as adsorbent for the treatment of dye-containing wastewater is also given. ?? 2011 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
