Abstract

This paper suggests that the formation of any new terminological system of a new sphere of human knowledge is a complicated process depending on different extraligual and lingual factors. To conduct a linguistic research of such a system one has to apply different linguistic methods, cognitive analysis being the most important. Metaphorisation is viewed as a cognitive model of terms formation in the terminological system of computer sciences and it is proved that the absolute majority of computer metaphoric terms belong to the type of metaphors that can be called orientational-conceptual.
