Abstract

This chapter shows how power electronics circuits, electric motors, and variable speed drives can be simulated with modern spice-based software tools. The focus is on LTspice, which is widely used, and available for all contemporary (2022) Windows and McIntosh PCs. All examples have been developed and tested on the most recent LTspice version XVII. LTspice was designed to support switch-mode power electronics devices in addition to traditional analog circuits. Analog Devices provides a web link for downloading LTspice claiming: “Fast, Free, Unlimited.”
