Abstract

Promotes field work on non-hominoid animals as a tool to researching human evolution. Looks at evidence for occurrences in animals of various cognitive skills, and presents a lot of social aspects in the end. Elaborates on these in his 1988 paper "Communication as Social Interaction" in "Primate Vocal Communication" ed. by Todt, Goedeging and Symmes.
