Abstract

Design issues related to statistically matched wavelet design are discussed. It is shown that two-band PR-QMF schemes have energy compaction performance bounded by the respective performances of the 2 × 2 KLT and the 4 × 4 KLT. A novel waveform matched wavelet design technique has been advanced and compared with the so-called Frazier-Kumar(FK) design technique.
