Abstract

The new trend of power quality monitoring is introduced in detail. In the viewpoint of online monitoring, real-time analysis and networking and through a practical design example of Power Quality Monitor (PQM) for low voltage distribution network, a hardware platform solution for embedded real-time system based on Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is put forward. Comparing with existing designs, the proposed design can accord with the demands of the up-to-date requirement in power quality monitoring and has advantages in performance, computation volume and cost. So this design is suitable to the permanent monitoring devices which are to be installed on site in large quantity.
