Abstract

Textile fabric/elec. conducting polymer composites with high elec. cond. were prepd. by chem. and electrochem. oxidative polymn. of pyrrole on PET fabrics. The effects were studied, of the chem. and electrochem. polymn. conditions on the properties of the resulting composites, such as surface morphol., elec. cond., environmental stability, mech. properties, and electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE). The polypyrrole-PET fabric composite shielded EMI by absorption and reflection. The sp. vol. resistivity of PPy-PET composites was as low as 0.3 Ω-cm, giving rise to about 35 dB of practically useful EMI SE over a wide range of frequency up to 1.5 GHz. [on SciFinder(R)]
