Embryonic Stem Cells

Abstract

Pluripotent stem cells are an excellent source of many types of differentiated cells that can be used in regenerative medicine. A brief history is provided of the derivation of embryonic stem cells from different sources, the challenges of their maintenance, and the evolution of cell culture systems, as well as general guidelines for generating of derivatives that are compliant with regulatory guidelines for therapeutic applications.
