Abstract

The socially-parasitic ant genus Strongylognathus is reported for Afghanistan for the first time, and a new species, S. kabakovi, is described based on the single queen. It belongs to the huberi species-group and is characterized by the small size. It differs from the latter species by the distinctly concave occipital margin, by the fines body sculpture, and by the less developed standing pilosity on the body. © Fundacja Natura optima dux.
