Abstract

Part of a special section on evaluation of learning in technical agriculture. Formative classroom assessment helps teachers to enhance student learning through the direction and redirection of their instruction. This assessment method may indicate a need to adjust a teaching strategy and can also help to identify students who have failed to grasp a concept. Some characteristics of formative assessment are discussed, and some formative assessment methods are described.
