Abstract

The paper considers the problem of hierarchical fuzzy control of multivariable systems. Some terms and definitions with regard to this problem are given. A method of hierarchical control is proposed in which the control actions have two components: local and global. The method is used for simulating the behaviour of an urban traffic network and the results are analysed. It is shown that the number of fuzzy relations is significantly reduced and thus real time control implementation is facilitated. © 1995.
