Abstract

A new approach to deal with diffuse radiation is presented in this paper. The atmospheric cooling rates by line-by-line method are given for different approaches to the diffusive radiation. Accuracy and calculating time among different methods are compared in some detail. The numerical results show that the formula proposed in this work is not only exact but also very simple and efficient, and that it can be widely used in the thermal radiation calculations. © 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
