Abstract
Creative endeavors "design work" are necessary to make up products like various machines. The expert who has knowledge, experience, and knowhow plays an important role to continuing enterprises. How to improve the intellectual productivity of design business is a pressing problem need to solve in manufacturing as one of onsite items. Many general-purposed CAD systems are good to support the works like drawing but not effective to processing and support of the design knowledge. There has been a considerable growth of interest in knowledge-based design support systems. Based on object-oriented methodologies evolved in software engineering and attribute-oriented modeling paradigms, we have proposed assembly structure as design object modeling method and design space model for design problem representation. This paper focuses the discussion on some basic concepts of the models, application of knowledge representation in elements design and manufacturing design for different fields to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2009 IEEE.
