Abstract

The designed BUMP combustion utilize the impact energy to alleviate the oil deposition on the combustion chamber wall, promote air/fuel mixing rate and expand the air/fuel mixing zone. Lean diffusion combustion results and low NOx and smoke emissions are achieved. The experiment results show the lean diffusion combustion is closely related to the injection timing. At the appropriate injection timing, the spray impinges the chamber wall and the second spray develops due to the effect of BUMP ring. Then the obvious lean diffusion combustion can be observed.
