Abstract
We will present a system we developed for networked access to multimedia resources. This research area hasn't received the attention it deserves from the multimedia community (Adie, 1993). It is influenced by many other fields in computer science. The most important are research on information retrieval and on databases, particularly so-called next-Generation databases (Cattell, 1991). Because of the multimedia nature of the data involved, research on novel user interfaces is also relevant.
