Abstract

When dealing with cementitious materials, one has to take into consideration the fact that they are subjected to rapid changes at early ages. These changes are of uttermost importance, as materials can be subjected to important strain development that can lead to crack occurring risk. Young's modulus is one of the parameters that play a major role. As it develops in the same time with the hydration process, modeling the variation of Young's modulus function of the degree of hydration is one of the first steps one has to make in order to develop a predictive model of early age cement paste behavior. © 2006 Taylor & Francis Group.
