Abstract

Heterogeneity is an inherent and functionally significant property of microvascular networks. In order to effectively account for this property, it is important to interpret simple typical vessel approaches with caution. An alternative is the combination of experimental techniques designed to obtain comprehensive samples of pertinent parameters for vascular networks with mathematical simulations to represent and model their complex interactions.
