Abstract

In this chapter two main topics are treated. First the description of motions of rigid object is explained. This is done in a projective geometrical framework which allows to nicely relate the Lie group approach [32] to the theory of screws [3]. The second part illustrates how modeling of mechanical systems can be approached using the theory of Hamiltonian system [27] using Dirac structures.
