Abstract

An attempt was made to develop a realistic surface roughness description for natural surfaces like agricultural fields. The suitability of the resultant description was checked using several European data sets of agricultural fields from Finland to Italy at various times of season. Although the surface roughness profiles were measured by different people using different instruments in various countries at varying times of the agricultural season, all results support the basic assumptions of the multiscale autocorrelation analysis method.
