Abstract

This brief suggests a modified approach to the discrete-time analysis of fixed frequency switch-mode dc-dc converters. The method presented here is based on the formulation of a nonlinear difference equation with respect to the duty cycle, which describes the closed-loop behavior of the system considered. The difference equation allows the complete examination of the system's steady state during normal operation, as well as in the case where subharmonic oscillations or chaos are developed. © 2005, The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.
