Abstract
The main aim of this paper is to discuss (in § 5) the semantic basis of noun class membership in Dyirbal, a North Queensland language. Some other, more general, remarks about noun classes are also included; these are fairly random and no attempt is made at exhaustiveness of treatment. The writer would be glad to receive corrections or criticisms, and further data, from others interested in the topic. © 1968.
