Abstract

The world energy situation is reviewed and the available options are considered. It is concluded that the industrialized countries will remain the driving force and will push for the substitution of oil by coal; nuclear energy and electricity. Nuclear energy is discussed from the point of view of cost control, safety, efficient management, and improved international cooperation.
