Abstract

The flow fields of two adjacent synthetic jets in cross flow are simulated by employing a two-dimensional incompressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes solver. The parametric studies are conducted, where the amplitude of the synthetic jet velocity relative to the external flow velocity, the excitation frequency and amplitude, and the phase difference between the two synthetic jets are varied. Simulations are performed both with and without cavity. The flow interactions between the external flow and the synthetic jets and between the two synthetic jets are investigated. © Ramesh Agarwal by Jing Cui.
