Abstract

According to Performance-based seismic design (PBSD) philosophy a study of energy derived parameters for the moment resistant building frame is presented as the content of the paper. A wide aspect of input and the output seismic energy using nonlinear analysis in RAM Perform 3D succeeded by modeling, analysis, and design by ETABS of moment resistant building frame are carried out. For better control of the performance database the output of the energy parameters are interpreted with the time history, hysteretic loop, usage ratio correlating their consistency with performance levels as the main constraint of PBSD to estimate the contribution of component behavior to the global. Nonlinear static pushover and nonlinear dynamic analyses in limited number are carried for the estimation of the matching demand and capacity in reliable manner. © 2006 Taylor & Francis Group.
