Abstract

Process for the preparation of hydrocarbons by contacting a feed comprising hydrogen, carbon monoxide and steam, the quantity of steam being 10-40%v, calculated on the H2/CO/H2O mixture, at elevated temperature and pressure with a silica supported catalyst comprising 10-40 pbw cobalt and 0.1-150 pbw zirconium, titanium or chromium per 100 pbw silica which catalyst has been prepared by impregnation and/or kneading.
