Abstract

The article discusses the Read-Ask-Paraphrase (RAP) method for teaching reading comprehension to students with learning disabilities. The article describes the importance of differentiating between reading fluency and reading comprehension and notes that reading comprehension is often overlooked by educators. The article details the RAP teaching method and gives a description of how it should be implemented in the classroom. Other topics include the scaffolding teaching method, the self-regulated strategy development (SRSD) model, and teacher and student attitudes about the RAP approach to reading comprehension.
