Abstract
Of the several rapid and inexpensive DNA isolation procedures that have been described recently, one of the most popular is that of Saghai-Maroof et al. (1984), a procedure using hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and lyophilized tissue. We here describe simple modification of this procedure that has been found to be efficient for for nucleic acid isolations from fresh leaf tissue, and which we have also used for dried herbarium specimens.
