Real-time digital signal processing

Abstract

An underlying assumption of most digital signal processing operations is that we have a sampled signal, our digital signal, that we wish to process. When time is not critical, these signals are often stored for subsequent retrieval or synthesized when needed. While this storage or synthesis method is very convenient, it does not allow for real-time processing of a signal.
