Reduplicative constructions

Abstract

This paper si a study of the form properties, of the meaning properties, and of the intralingual and interlingual distribution of reduplicative constructions. Some generalizations that have proved to be exceptionless within a limited cross-linguistic sample are proposed as tentative language universals. An attempt si made to relate some of these generalizations to other facts about languages outside the domain of reduplication.
