Abstract

In introdu2ing the types of snow and ice cover (and their hydrological significance), tabulated details of all types of remote sensing systems are presented, as well as U.S.S.R. and U.S.A. civilian scientific satellites. The account of methods for analysing remotely sensed data also covers the problems encountered and considers simple ways of extracting quantitative data from satellite images.
