The resource database audit

Abstract

The JORC Code requires that a Competent Person must take responsibility for a Mineral Resource or Ore Reserve estimation. Experience has shown that the resource database, the area over which the Competent Person usually has least control, may contain major inconsistencies and errors of fact and interpretation, which affect the quality of the estimation. This paper will identify a range of exploration data that should be examined at an early stage in a thorough audit of the database on which resource estimation is based.
