Abstract

An interview with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is presented. He explains his rationale for equating the social implications of education reform during his tenure with the civil rights movement of 20th century America. He discusses his efforts to implement policies to focus teacher recruitment on minority male teachers, particularly African-American and Hispanic-American teachers. He also comments on potential problems to funding for community colleges.
