Spatial Analysis in Archaeology

Abstract

This book outlines the methodology of spatial analysis and its application to archaeology. The techniques covered are: distribution maps and their interpretation, tests of randomness, nearest neighbor analysis, regression analysis and trend surface analysis, tests of spatial association; together with a number of discussions of modelling various types of distribution and the use of models in interpretation. Examples treated include distributions of artifact types, of coins, of settlements and hillforts.
