Students Rate Their Professors

Abstract

The article addresses the issue of student evaluations of faculty members and affirms the right of students to rate their professors in order for them to ensure the quality of the education they receive. It refutes the argument that student evaluations of teachers often become popularity contests, arguing that many students take their college education seriously and prefer professors who challenge them intellectually. It also asserts that students are in the best position to assess the effectiveness of their professors' teaching abilities.
