Abstract

The macrosegregation of aluminium in centrifugal-cast ZA27 alloy under different conditions is examined. The longer the pouring time or the lower the pouring temperature, the lower the degree of the macrosegregation in the specimen. It is proposed that the macrosegregation of aluminium is caused due to the difference between the density of zinc and aluminium. The addition of manganese into the alloy could reduce the macrosegregation efficiently. © 1999 Elsevier Science S.A.
