TOC and TRIZ based product design method and its application

Abstract

To achieve product design effectively, a new product design method based on Theory of Constraints (TOC) and Theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) was put forward. In the method, key problems in product design process were firstly determined by Current Reality Tree (CRT) of TOC. And then Contradiction Resolve Diagram (CRD) was adopted to analyze technical problems so as to define contradictions in the product design process. Then the contradictions were resolved thoroughly by Theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) technical tools and the product design project objectives were achieved. Finally, the application case of an airbag design was used to illustrate the validity and efficiency of the method.
