Abstract

Privacy is widely recognized as a barrier for the acceptance of new technologies (Hong 2005), Location Based Services are one of such new technologies. They are opening up new, incredible opportunities that several industries can benefit from. They have a big potential, and there is little doubt that incorporating that technology can improve our lives, work and safety. A number of different types of Location Based Services have been developed and widely adopted, from GPS navigation, Friend-Finder and POI-Finder applications to emergency systems such as Enhanced 911 (E911). Location Based Services have been widely adopted in mobile applications, proliferation of mobile phones equipped in GPS, Wi-Fi, accelerometers and other sensors made them .the most widely used ubiquitous computing (ubicomp) devices. (Barkhuus 2003). Mobile phones are integral elements embedded into the fabric of everyday life and are more personal than ever before.
