Abstract

The article has two parts. The first discusses some differences between plato's portrayal of socrates and xenophon's, by way of trying to account for the unjustified neglect of the latter. The second gives a brief account of the contents of the "memorabiliia" (the longest of xenophon's socratic writings), discussing in turn each of the sections into which its 39 chapters are divided.
