Abstract

The article comments on the surge in XML data and the Web services to access the data in 2006. The growth is forcing companies to create new information architecture with XML data stores as the key component. These products are facing competition from traditional database vendors such as Microsoft Corp. and International Business Machines Corp. Also, Oracle Corp. and Sybase Inc. are working to persuade enterprise IT groups to adopt these next-generation data stores, along with data management and application development tools, as the building blocks of a new enterprise information architecture.
